Basket-A-Month is a community supported agriculture program that was launched in December 2005 by Foodshed Farm and currently serves more than 200 households each month. BAM members enjoy the best Arkansas has to offer—fresh, nutritious, seasonal products, gathered from farmers and value-added producers around the state in one bountiful basket and delivered to convenient pickup locations in central Arkansas.
For farmers, BAM is a safe and reliable outlet for their products. The community supported agriculture model allows farmers and subscribers to share in the risks of farming. It makes it easier for farmers to plan crops and reduces the risk that the harvest will go unsold. It’s a vital solution for producers who are unable to travel to a farmers’ market every few days. It also supports a wider variety of specialty and heirloom crops not carried by conventional grocery stores.
How BAM works
You subscribe to three baskets at a time. When it’s time for a pickup, you will receive an e-mail notice. You choose the pickup location most convenient for you, respond by e-mail to reserve your basket, then pick it up and enjoy! Click here to read the complete rules and pickup procedures.
Cost
$180 for three baskets
What’s in a BAM Basket?
A lot! We offer vegetarian and whole farm baskets, and we strive to include all of the food groups in each basket. Here’s what a typical basket might include:
1/2 gallon farm-fresh milk
1/2 pound raw milk cheese
1 dozen eggs
1 pound meat (or vegetarian item of equal value)
1 bag salad greens
1 pound rice, handmade pasta, or 1 loaf fresh baked bread
A selection of fruits, vegetables, nuts, herbs, etc. according to season
A prepared food such as jelly, honey or sauce
